Kithulgala visit 05 - 07 [2011]

As the first visit this new year, we went Kithulgala. There was a ceremony to participate in; so this time, my interest is not going to be entirely based on wild life. But, as usual I went there with my camera and field equipments .[ I mean guide books , note books and such things , not tripods, lenses .. ]

There wasn't enough time to walk around on the 5th Wednesday as I was planned because we arrived at Kithulgala after the sun hid behind mountains. At night, we crossed the river Kelani and arrived at our lodge .

On the way to that lodge I found some caterpillars that had green [Luminous] light spots on their bodies. They are just like "Rabadullo" and had the exact light of “Kalamadiriyo". I went to bed after about 1.00 a.m.   On the 6th Thursday morning I woke up at about 6.20 a.m. and started my day very curiously. I was up and about to add some new wild species {Birds or Dragonflies or butterflies}to my check list .But the hole house was very busy for the ceremony  [Wedding] and I had to help them too .so I wasn’t able to do so.  But at about 8.00a.m I got a chance to sit in-front of the house So I was just hazing at the Jungle,  while I watching around my eyes suddenly stopped at a tree branch near the lodge .There was a Reddish dragonfly . So I carefully went closer to the dragonfly and captured two shots of it then. It suddenly disappeared. I found It again when it was perching on a wire. I got enough time to capture It at that time ,but unfortunately it was directly exposed to morning sunlight which affected to the quality of capturing .  It was Spine-tufted Skimmer ;[click for more]
We had to go upper part of the Kitulgala village to particiapate the Wedding . it was my first time visit to that part . There were few streams near the wedding house so I was keen to walk around there . I waited very patiently, till I stumbled upon a picture perfect moment . When the ceremony began I got a chance to go out again. So I went to the closest Stream. at there I found a brilliant-blue in color dragonfly .It was a Common one but I tryied my best to capture this little dragonfly . Asian Pintail -; [click for more]
After few minutes of effort, I captured and identified few dragonfly and butterfly species After that visit I went to the wedding house again and waited there few minuets then again and I went yet again. I sure hope I won’t be charged guilty!  I went out and this time I walked to the upper side .At the upper part of that village there was a thick jungle .
As I had heard sometime back, there were only four houses in that jungle path. So I walked in. I found very interesting bio diversity in that part. My next Kithulgala expectation will consist purely on this jungle, so I will only give you a sneak peak at some things that my camera caught, for the time being.
on my walk to jungle I saw a beautiful damselfly . I didn't identified it at that time ,That time I thought It may a rare jungle species . but it wasn't . It was Painted waxtail .[more] Anyhow I captured this beautiful cutey very closely .
Also I found few butterflies such as Plum Judy -;[click here for more]
I 'll post few another photographs which I captured around that place :                         Arts Of Mother Nature :

On the Second day [ 6th Friday] at the Homecoming  I didn't find any more time to walk around We were there for the bride-groom and therefore, couldn’t escape into the wilderness anymore.  I returned home by a relation's car this day while my parents stay at there because I had a class on Saturday .
